John Gallison (1788-1820) was a lawyer who lived and worked in Boston and on the North Shore of Massachusetts. His journals (10 volumes of which survive, of 13) leave an extended record of life during that time. Politics, society, intellectual life, Unitarianism, and the difficulties of simply earning a living all fell under his eye, often in interconnected ways.
