Stephen Symchych is a candidate for a DPhil in History at St Antony’s College, Oxford, under the supervision of Dr Nicholas P Cole.
Before Oxford, he earned an MPPM in finance and strategy from Yale, where he was a teaching assistant to Prof Kenneth R French, and an MSt in US History from the University of Cambridge. He prepared his MSt dissertation,”The Decline of Federalism in Boston as Witnessed and Experienced by John Gallison, 1807-1820″ under the supervision of Dr Cole at Oxford.
Stephen’s doctoral research focuses on partisan political identity among (mostly non-political) Massachusetts men and women in the early Republic. His article on moderation in Federal Boston is forthcoming in the Journal of the Early Republic, and among his next projects will be preparation of John Gallison’s complete papers for publication.
Stephen is co-founder of the OxEARS seminar (oxears.org), and a proud recipient of an Oxford Historian of the Week sticker.
